i saw this on dave letterman and thought it was really funny. say what you want about our president, but at least he’s a horrible, horrible speaker.
so, jana and i recorded a song for a compilation that some guy in france was putting out. well, it’s finally here. i guess he decided to make the compilation for download only, which is cool. cooler yet, the whole thing is free! it’s called “have a good night” and we are the last song on the seventeen song compilation. it’s a series of lullabies for children. while, i really like the songs on the compilation, i’m not sure if some of them qualify as lullabies, but nevertheless, it’s pretty good. go to his site here and download “have a good night”. you can even download any of several pre-made covers which were all drawn by children. it’s pretty cool.
the tracklisting is as follows:
1 – Faris Nourallah • Galla
2 – Jana Hunter • Ooh uuh
3 – Ramona Cordova • One day someday
4 – Au Revoir Simone • Stay golden
5 – Liz Janes and Create (!) • Careless love
6 – Quincannon • 0’s & 1’s
7 – Eric Ramsey & Milkymee • Spider monkey song
8 – Aujourd’hui Madame • Hush hush hush
9 – Thunderegg • Go to sleep
10 – F*** Buddies & Tutu Clash • Lou Oliver
11 – The Metasciences • Intergallatic lullaby
12 – Dawn Landes • The loveliest of trees
13 – Let’s go sailing • Come home safely
14 – Salim Nourallah • Dreaming
15 – Lisa Cerbone • You are loved
16 – Half Asleep • Childeren
17 – The Cedars • I’m me and you’re you
so, here’s a test of wit and skill. which child is which? or are they even ours? i challenge any of you to this attempt this feat.
these songs are by low.
and low’s back for an unprecedented 20th time as my music of the week. well, maybe not the 20th, but a lot of times nonetheless. so, jana and i performed last week and it was really cool and we’ve been asked to peform again at some youth thing. i want to play some really cool songs and have been going through the archives for some good cover tunes. here are a couple of songs that i’m thinking about playing.
so, we were asked to play this stake “featured artists” thing. they asked us to play whatever we wanted for 10-15 minutes. we taped the event for the sake of posterity. it was pretty cool. i wish the video were better. my camera was just on a tri-pod but my friend also brought his camera to catch some cool angles, but before we went on, someone rolled over it with a food cart and now it’s broken. total bummer. i was going to do some multi-camera shots and make it all cool and professional, but i guess it just wasn’t in the cards.

so we have this place nearby that takes really cute portraits of the kids called emages (pronounced, emma-jez) and they were doing a whole session of portraits out in this tulip field. we thought it would be cool to take lily and jack to get their picture taken, but as it turns out jack couldn’t make it so he sent an old (and very concerned) little bald man to take his place. these are just some of the proofs that they put online which is why there’s a little “emages” watermark on all of the pics.
EDIT: jana says that they’re daffodils, not tulips.
…on the blog train. i figured it would be nice to have a place where i can keep my thoughts. a digital journal of sorts. but being the rebel that i am, i started a wordpress account. blogger is so yesterday. no, actually i just liked the way that wordpress looked, so, there you go. i posted a link to my blog in the left column under extras. it looks like this.
check it out when you get a chance. or not. either way is fine with me.
taken from youtube.com:
Heat Vision and Jack was created as a 1999 pilot for Fox. Written by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, directed by Ben Stiller, this series was passed over by Fox despite critical acclaim from those who’ve been lucky enough to see it.
The 30 minute pilot is about an astronaut (played by Jack Black) with a medical secret who is on the run from the evil Ron Silver and the rest of NASA, with the help of a talking motorcycle called Heat Vision (voiced by Owen Wilson).
i add my sentiments to this as i’ve watched this 30 minute episode and it was one of the funnier things i’ve ever seen that never made it to t.v. if you’re not sure as to whether or not you want to spend the time, just think: ben stiller, owen wilson, and jack black. need i say more?
these are a long time coming. jana had taken a bunch of pictures and it’s just taken me a long time to put these up. par for the course, really.
