i shot this a month or so ago when we had a pretty big snow (big for this area, anyway) but finally just got around to editing it. this was lily’s first experience with snow and it was with definite trepidation that she made her way into the blizzard. all in all i think she fared rather well, and maybe next time, she’ll be a little more prepared.
i’m sorry that it’s been so long since i’ve made any updates. this is the toll that two children can take on you. plus i’ve been really busy at work (see below). these are a bunch of pictures of jackson since he’s been born. there’s also a few of lily in there around halloween. hopefully after Christmas, i’ll be able to update the site more often. i have some videos that i’d like to put up as soon as i get enough time to edit them. no more excuses.
so, i’m finally making some big changes at heller trading. first of all i’m moving the warehouse. i found a new location just a mile or so from our house. i’m totally stoked about this because it obviously makes the commute pretty easy. also, i’m finally changing the name. heller trading will now be known as…
lakeland furniture warehouse. lakeland hills is the gigantic community where we live and my warehouse will be right on the street that most everybody drives on to get home. this will give me great exposure. the image above is my new front sign. the logo was designed by one mr. ethan smith. he did a great job and i really like the look of it. it doesn’t scream “furniture!” which is what i like about it. it’s cool and inviting and i think will finally help me get a good design scheme going. anyway, that’s what’s new on the work front.
so, i was finally able to afford one of those really cool laptops with the see-through monitor. they’re awesome! but as you see, they can have a bit of glare.
and if you want one, i can show you how to get one for really cheap…
if you clicked ‘read more’ because you thought i could get you a cheap laptop, then you’re pretty naive. and if you think that they make laptops with see-through monitors, then you’re even more naive. actually i just took a picture behind my laptop and cropped it to the right size and set it as my dektop image. it looks pretty cool, as long as you don’t move your head at all.
there’s this park about a block from our house and lily loves to go to the park. and it’s really hard because we have to drive by it everytime we go somewhere and lily always thinks we’re taking her to the park and she gets real excited, but then her hopes get dashed when we just keep on driving. but it’s good, because i think it’s getting her ready for life. you don’t always get what you want. and she needs to learn that. well, on this particular day, i thought i’d let her win. because it’s nice to get it your way on occasion.
once again, bonus points if anyone can name the song. i’ll even give you bonus points if you can name the band. this one might be tough.
so, jana’s band, the arrogants, have been working on their masterpiece album for over 2 years now and it’s finally finished and available for everyone to buy. it’s called ‘you’ve always known when best to say goodbye’. it’s got 23 tracks and comes with a bonus dvd. tweekitten.com is selling it for $7.50. now, you can’t beat a price like that. though i may be a bit bit biased, i have to say that this album is really good. i’ve been listening to this thing for the past two years and have seen it raised from it’s infancy so it’s somewhat hard to listen to it with fresh ears. but i threw it in the car cd player the other day and pretended that i’d never heard it before and it just sounded so good…
…better than i ever remember it sounding. it’s a perfect mix of mellow and poppy. and the production is great. our friend steve brown recorded the whole thing in his house (with the excepetion of the first track from the album which jana and i recorded in our home, and one other track that was recorded live) and he did a phenomenal job. so, as connected as i am to this album, i can honestly say that it’s an amazing album worth owning.
so, here he is in his first feature film (or something like that). jackson jet heller (and yes, that is his real middle name) is an amazing little guy and has already had a big impact on this family. check out his arrival into our world.
here he is. jackson jet heller born wednesday, october 19th, 2005 at 6:03 am. he weighed in at 7lbs. 2oz. and was 20 & 1/4″ tall (snakes are long, not babies). he’s totally healthy and we’re stoked (and possibly a little nervous) to welcome him to his new home.
inspired by a friend who had made a video of his son saying “hi”, i started thinking about a word that lily frequently uses, and this is what i came up with. i’m not sure where she picked this up (though i have a sneaking suspicion it was from one of her parents) but we’re doing our best to try and break her of it. maybe making a video showcasing her favorite word isn’t the most effective way to do that.
